It's one of my very favorite things in the whole world to read fairy tales I've never read before. So this was a gift I can't even really explain well. Thanks for sharing, for your thoughts, for your bits of you.Deb Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16419809243480266275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098338657770100534.post-71613199017863985522012-06-02T21:10:17.376-06:002012-06-02T21:10:17.376-06:00Done. I fall hard for the visuals. If something has a bright color or unique look, I'm usually sold before I hear or read the first word. I can't tell if this is a good thing or bad :)Deb Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16419809243480266275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098338657770100534.post-73100312234460366962012-05-29T20:45:45.838-06:002012-05-29T20:45:45.838-06:00Oh! Now as an adult I realize it has some wicked dark themes, but at the time I loved the idea of the princess outwitting her crazy old man. I think this probably says a lot about my family life....Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05754778263332756663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098338657770100534.post-7786400959534965282012-05-28T10:34:54.356-06:002012-05-28T10:34:54.356-06:00I would like to play a game with you, if you haven...I would like to play a game with you, if you haven't been tagged already. Loved the 'Cap 'O Rushes animation also and hey - the moral of the story is 'salt is GOOD for the heart'!Julie Hutchinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06583949969402695509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098338657770100534.post-8475671451133089392012-05-26T23:39:08.796-06:002012-05-26T23:39:08.796-06:00Catskin, yes, that was a variation of this story t...Catskin, yes, that was a variation of this story too. What's interesting to me is that there are all these variations running along similar themes...dark themes that we're somehow trying to make sense of? Is that why we do it?

And isn't it interesting as well, that as children we don't catch on to how dark the stories really are? I've heard this from many people, and experienced it as well myself.Deb Stevenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16419809243480266275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098338657770100534.post-38982857674009782192012-05-26T10:02:51.275-06:002012-05-26T10:02:51.275-06:00Interesting. Maybe because I read stories like this so young I never really thought about how dark they are, but original versions of fairy tales seem to be dark and disturbing across the board.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09610208332113861702noreply@blogger.com
